1987 CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO SS
2 DR SPORT COUPE SILVER METALLIC
Here we have a very nice example of the final generation of rear drive, body-on-frame, carbureted car from General Motors. The Monte Carlo SS model was produced from 1983 to 1988 with production ending in December of 1987. This 87 SS was produced in December of 1986 in Pontiac, Michigan. It sold new December 24, 1986 in Monroe City, Missouri to a Mr. James O'Brien. The odometer showed 15 miles at that time. CarFax reports 39,046 miles on the car as of August of '94. Resulting in an average of just 5,578 per year for the first seven years. The SS odometer now shows 90,679 miles for an average annual mileage of 2,458 miles over the past 21 years. This supports the fact that this car was never used as an every day driver. It has been well housed, maintained, and serviced over its almost 30 year life thus far. One look at the car and this history of care is apparent. Mr. O'Brien did sell this car in June of 2012 and was in the care of one other collector before arriving at our garage in 2015.
This stunning Silver Metallic Monte Carlo SS comes complete with its original window sticker. Car features include: a 305 H.O. Engine; the H.O. Engine came with the IROC Z's aluminum intake manifold, as well as the same cam as used in the Corvettes of that time. The transmission is the TH200R4 4 speed automatic. The rear end is a Limited Slip 3.73 geared factory original piece. Options include: Air Conditioning, Gray Cloth Bucket Seats, Console, Tinted Glass, Power Windows, Electric Rear Window Defogger, Power Door Locks, Power Trunk Release, Intermittent Wipers, Twin Remote Sport Mirrors, Cruise Control, and Tilt Steering Wheel. The SS has been updated with an Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo system, the original AM/FM/Cassette also comes with the car.
This fine example of the Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS runs and drives as close as one can hope to get to new! There are no squeaks, rattles, and the steering and feel of the ride are tight – enhanced by the F-41 Suspension and B.F. Goodrich 255-60-15 Radial TA's. We do believe this car has had one repaint. Most likely done by the dealer under warranty as the 80's factory paints were notoriously thin.
If you are looking for an extremely nice, well maintained and documented 4th Generation Monte Carlo SS, this one is well worth a look!
